US Navy "Benson" Class
DD 421 .. DD 444

Based on the experience made the the previous types the U.S. Navy orderd in the late 30s a new type of 1,500ts destroyers - the Bensons. Due to minor differences these ships could be divided into four sub classes - the Benson, the Gleaves, the Livermoore and the Bristol type.
Between 1940 and 1943 the U.S. Navy commissioned 96 ships of this class. During the war the armament was changed and additional equipment (e.g. additional AA and ASW armament, radar) was installed Data Sheet of Sims class DD in 1945
