| Destroyers |
|
| At the turn of the century the U. S. Navy started to develop their own destroyers - based on experiences made by the European naval powers. The Bainbridge type (Bainbridge, Barry, Chauncey) had a small by one deck raised fore-deck and a small stearing house. The engines were positioned between the two boiler rooms. The armament was mounted at heightened platforms and the torpedo tubes were placed between the funnels and and the stern. | ||||
